How Do I get a Guard Card Permit?


You need to take the Initial 8 hour BSIS Guard Card Training Course, Submit your application to BSIS and, get your Live Scan done for your Background Check.

How Do I get a Firearms Permit?


You need to take the Initial 2 day BSIS Firearms Training Course, Submit your application to BSIS, get your Live Scan done for your Background Check and complete your Firearms Assessment.

How Do I get a Baton Permit?


You need to take the required 8 hour BSIS Baton Training Course.

You need to take the required 8 hour CPR/First Aid Training Course.

How Do I Renew my Guard Card?


You need to pay BSIS the $40 renewal fee by either mailing the renewal form and renewal fee to BSIS or, renewing it electronically.

How Do I Renew my Firearms Permit?


You need to pay BSIS the $118 renewal fee by either mailing the renewal forms, requal sheets and renewal fee to BSIS or, by renewing it electronically.

I have a valid Firearms Permit but would like to add a additional caliber, how do I do that?


You will be required to retake the *Firearms class again. Then submit the documents you'll receive at the end of class and **submit them to BSIS. Once the caliber has been added to your permit you can request another card and pay the $25 fee.

**Note: There is no state fee to add the caliber to your permit, you only need to pay BSIS if you would like another card with the new caliber on it once it has been added.

Classes start at 8am

What do I need to Bring to Class?


Your valid ID/Drivers License (All classes)

Class fee in cash or money order (All classes)

Guard Card (If attending Firearms, Baton or additional Guard Card Training)

Proof of Citizenship (If attending the Initial Firearms or, are new with us for requals)

Firearms Permit (For requal class)



How do I reserve my spot for Class?


Classes are walk in, please be here on the correct day and time for the class you wish to attend.

Do we get any Breaks During Class?


Classes 6 hours or longer will receive an hour lunch break and at least one 10-15 min break.



Is There any eating Places Close by?


At the corner of Sepulveda and Vermont there is:

At the corner of Vermont and 228th there is a hamburger place called Monks

There is one at Lomita and Normandie (In the same parking lot as a car wash and a Baskin Robbins)

There is one at Sepulveda and Western (In the same parking lot as a Spires)

There is one at Figueroa and 228 (Across the street from a Chevron gas station)



Is There a Dress Code for the Classroom?


Feel free to be comfortable however, please remember you are attending a class not a night club or just hanging out with your friends so, please be respectful to your fellow classmates and make sure your body parts are not at risk of falling out.



Is There a Dress Code for the Range?


When you go to the range be sure to:

Ware closed toe shoes (No flip flops or open toed sandles)

Do not ware low tops (As semi automatic guns are fired hot brass will be ejected from the gun)

I Received a Denial Letter What do I do?


You will have to wait one year from the date of denial to reapply for the permit you were trying to obtain.



I Received a Deficiency Letter What do I do?


You need to fix whatever problem the deficiency letter says and send it back to BSIS in a timely manor.



I have a Home safety Certificate can I be armed as a security Guard?


No, a home safety certification allows you to buy a firearms for your home. In order to carry a Firearms while working as a Security Guard you will be required to take the BSIS Initial Firearms Class.



I do not have a computer or scanner at home, can you help me submit my applications / renew my permits electronically?


Yes, we would be happy to assist you. Please bring:

A credit card you can use for the state fees

$10 in cash for us

Your Breeze user ID and Password

All necessary documents required for the permits your trying to apply for or renew
